Phone battery draining fast: is it settings or wear?
Sudden drain after an update, a new app or with weak signal is usually software or settings and often settles within a day or two. Drain that keeps getting worse, a phone that shuts off with charge left, or a health reading well below 80 percent means the battery is worn. A swollen one needs replacing straight away.

Why is my phone draining so fast all of a sudden (battery jaldi khatam ho jati hai)?
Look at what changed. After a software update the phone works in the background for a while. One app can run wild. Weak signal, high brightness, location and a hot phone all use more charge. The usage list in Settings shows which apps use the most.
- Open Settings, then Battery, and see which app uses the most.
- Update or remove the app at the top if it looks wrong.
- Restart the phone.
- Lower the brightness and turn on power saving or Low Power Mode for a day to compare.
How do I check battery health on iPhone and Android?
On iPhone, go to Settings, then Battery, then Battery Health. Maximum Capacity shows how much charge it holds compared with new. Android differs by maker: some show health under Settings, Battery; on Samsung, the Samsung Members app has a check under Diagnostics.
When does a battery need replacing?
Apple treats about 80 percent of its original capacity as worn. Other signs: the phone shuts off at 20 or 30 percent, it slows down, it gets hot while charging, or a full charge no longer lasts the day. A replacement fixes these; settings will not.
Is a swollen phone battery dangerous?
Yes. A swollen battery can catch fire if it is pressed, punctured or charged. Signs: the screen or back lifting from the frame, a gap at the edge, or the phone rocking on a table. Stop using and charging it, and get it replaced.
- Turn the phone off and unplug it.
- Do not press the screen or back down to close the gap.
- Keep it away from heat, beds and anything that burns.
- Do not charge it again; take it in for a replacement.
